Vote For Top Quality Candidates
Vote For Pace, Peace adn the Republican Slate

Old Saybrook needs the continued leadership of the Pace & Peace team and the rest of the Republican Candidates on the Ballot.

This is the team that walked in the Town Hall door 10 years ago and went to work to clean up the mess of the previous administrations.

A reminder of some history:

Year after year town and school budgets were defeated time and time again. Many of the Town’s properties were boarded up (Saybrook Point building, Main Street School) or in need of major repair. Many Main Street stores were empty, the Acton Library and the Fire House needed repairs and expansion, schools needed expansion and repairs, and we were facing a court order to build a town wide Sewer system to include the needs of Clinton and Westbrook, which would have cost Old Saybrook more than $!00 million dollars.

During the last 10 years Mike Pace and Bill Peace, working with the Board of Finance, Board of Education, and other town agencies, went to work and look at the results. Old Saybrook has become one of the most desirable places to live. Town infrastructure has been brought up to date, repaired, remodeled, and refurbished. Budgets have been passed because they work. Main Street is thriving and a new Welcome Center has been built at the head of Main Street on a former gas station property. This building was built by people who donated materials, time and talent to the project.

A resolution was passed, by legislation sponsored by Rep. Marilyn Giuliano and passed by the State Legislature, allowing Old Saybrook to resolve the ground water pollution problem, with on site correction without a town wide sewer system. This was overwhelmingly approved by the voters in August.

Many new items are on the table. Senior Housing needs are now scheduled to be addressed with an expansion proposed for Saybrook Village on Sheffield Street. The present project is about 30 years old. An option has been taken on property adjacent to the present site to expand up to 20 more units. Application for grant money is prepared to not only build new units but to refurbish the existing units as well.

All this takes knowledge of finances, careful planning, and a watchful eye on every aspect of government.

We need knowledgeable and wise management and leadership. A miss-step today can lead to disaster tomorrow. Vote for Pace, Peace and the entire Republican Slate.
